If you’re looking for a fun and creative way to keep track of the date, why not try making your own DIY endless calendar out of wood?
The concept of an endless calendar is one where you can adjust the date to any day and month without having to replace the calendar entirely. This can be a great alternative to traditional paper calendars, as you can use it year after year and it adds a unique touch to your home decor.
Here’s how to create your own DIY endless calendar from wood:
Materials:
– 1 wooden board (1/4 inch thickness)
– Saw
– Wood glue
– Sander
– Tape measure
– Pencil
– Ruler
– Drill
– 31 wooden cubes (1 inch x 1 inch)
Instructions:
1. Begin by cutting your wooden board into four strips that are all the same length and width. For example, each strip could measure 12 inches long and 3 inches wide.
2. Use your sander to smooth any rough edges on the strips of wood.
3. Next, use your pencil and ruler to draw lines along the length of each strip, dividing them into equal sections. The number of sections will depend on how many days are in each month (28, 30 or 31).
4. Using your saw, cut each section on the first strip to create slots for the wooden cubes. The slots should be shallow but wide enough to firmly hold the cubes in place.
5. Apply wood glue to the second and third strips and carefully place them on top of the first strip, ensuring that the slots line up.
6. Repeat step 4 for the remaining strips of wood, cutting the appropriate number of slots for each month.
7. On the top strip of wood, use your drill to create a hole at one end. This will be used to adjust the date by sliding the wooden cubes back and forth.
8. Sand the entire DIY endless calendar to ensure it’s smooth and free of any rough edges or splinters.
9. Finally, insert the wooden cubes into the appropriate slots, with one cube representing each day of the month.
Your DIY endless calendar is now complete! To adjust the date, simply slide the spacer cube to the current day and the number cubes as required. This can be a fun and creative project to complete with your family and it offers a unique and functional way to keep track of the date. Enjoy!
