Three dancers who turned a talent show win into a global choreography career just dropped a new Oslo visual for their electronic side project.

Strawhatz isn’t a garage band from Manila — it’s the dance-driven, electronic music and visual-art outlet built by Quick Style, the Norwegian hip-hop dance trio better known for choreographing routines seen by millions worldwide. On March 13, 2020, the group posted “Uncle Robz Theme (Oslo 13.03.20),” a filmed performance of their single of the same name, shot on home turf with a handful of guest collaborators.

Before there was a Strawhatz, there was Quick Style — Suleman Malik, Bilal Malik, and Nasir Sirikhan, three friends from Oslo who won over Norwegian audiences on Norske Talenter in 2009. That win turned into a career choreographing for major international acts, most notably BTS, work that took the trio from local talent-show winners to names recognized across the global dance and pop music circuit. Strawhatz is where that same choreography instinct gets pointed at their own material instead of someone else’s stage show.

The Strawhatz Concept

Where Quick Style is credited work for other artists, Strawhatz is the trio’s own production: electronic tracks paired with tightly synchronized urban choreography and a deliberately cross-cultural visual identity. The group performs in conical straw hats — nón lá, the traditional headwear associated with Vietnam — layered over hip-hop isolation technique and dance-music production, a combination they’ve carried into performances as far afield as Singapore.

The song at the center of the Oslo video is “Uncle Robz Theme,” an electronic single originally released featuring Japanese model and singer Haruka Kurebayashi. The “Oslo 13.03.20” video isn’t a studio music video — it’s a dated, location-specific performance clip, filmed in Norway with guest collaborators joining the trio for the routine. Posted the same day it was shot, the video leans on the group’s signature blend: urban choreography, electronic-dance production, and the straw-hat visual motif that’s become their calling card outside the Quick Style name.
